Udine

The provincial capital of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Udine is 60 km away from Lignano, in the middle of Friulian plain, between Tagliamento and Isonzo river.

City of Venetian aspect, Udine has its monumental centre in the sixteenth century Piazza della Libertà, where is located the Town Hall (Loggia del Lionello), in Venetian-Gothic style, and the S. Giovanni Portico with a Clock Tower.

From Piazza della Libertà you go up to the Castle, a grand Renaissance building, now centre of several museums.
